From the President--
I am so excited for the 2017-2018 Rotary Year! Our Club’s theme this year will be Shine Bright! In our community and throughout the world we see and hear about darkness; the darkness of ignorance, hate, poverty, lack of clean water, human trafficking, and disease. As Rotarians, our talent, time, and treasure have the ability to shine a light into that darkness. Whether it is in giving money to our local rescue mission, partnering with other local clubs to provide a van to rescue human trafficking victims, or working with a club in Uganda to provide a micro-credit grant for their local community – we are “Shining Bright”! With only 35 cases reported world-wide in 2016, we have partnered with Rotary International and have brought light to a disease called Polio that has caused crippling darkness for so many. We expect that disease to be eradicated in the next few years. And that is all because individual Rotarians and organizations who are willing to step up and “Shine Bright”.

This is an exciting time to be a member of Visalia County Center Rotary. In May of 2018, we will be celebrating our 40th anniversary. I want this entire year to be a celebration. A combination of traditions and transitions, a mixture of genders and ages, and a coming together like never before. Every week I want our time together to be spent on encouragement and fellowship, so that each of us will leave the meeting revived and focused on “Shining Bright” into the darkness around us.

Sincerely,
Deborah Volosin
